Andy and Zoe Cullen
Andy is a veteran of 17 years’ service in the Australian Army, after retiring as a Major in 2012. Over the course of his military career, Andy served in the Royal Australian Infantry (RAINF) and later the Royal Australian Engineers (RAE), was deployed on various operations and in 2012 awarded the Commendation for Distinguished Service.
Zoe grew up in the tranquil hills of Byron Bay (NSW), living in a mud brick home built by her parents, where she developed a passion for life, family and travel. After university, Zoe married into the Army, where her own career took a back seat to Andy's life as a Military Officer.
Following his retirement from the Army in 2012, Andy was diagnosed with PTSD related to his multiple deployments, and Zoe became the sole parent of their four young children as Andy battled with a loss of identity and purpose. Together as part of the rehabilitation and recovery journey they have co-authored PTSD Resurrected in an effort to help other current and ex-serving defence force personnel and their families overcome similar challenges. They are proud to be Ambassadors for Mates4Mates in 2017.
