Mates4Mates Beyond the Uniform Program

  • Have you recently discharged from the Defence Force?
  • Are you struggling to adapt to life after serving?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then the Beyond the Uniform Program might be for you!

What is the Beyond the Uniform Program?

For veterans who discharged less than 3 years ago (or those current serving awaiting discharge), the Beyond the Uniform Program aims to connect you with like-minded others in a focused support group while learning mental, physical and social wellbeing strategies that can assist with the challenges of life after serving.

Over two days, Mates4Mates clinicians will support participants to:

  • Understand the importance of identity and purpose and how this can be impacted during and after transitioning
  • Build resilience and adapting to the world after Defence
  • Connect with community
  • Learn more about relationships and communication
  • Develop stress and mental health management
  • Undertake physical activity to improve wellbeing and physical injury

Please note:

  • Participating in this program means that you are expected to attend both sessions.
  • There is a minimum number of participants required for facilitation of this program. The program may be cancelled if the minimum number is not met.

Upcoming Programs

Ipswich

Our next program will run at the Mates4Mates Ipswich Centre on Wednesday, 8 October from 11:30am to 4:30pm, and Thursday, 9 October from 8:30am to 4:30pm.

Veterans who are interested in participating in the Beyond the Uniform Program will need to undertake an expression of interest (EOI) process. This EOI includes a clinical screening to ensure this program is suitable for you.

Submit your expression of interest below.

Expressions of interest close Friday, 3 October 2025
, however, expressions of interest may close sooner if a large volume of applications are received. It is therefore recommended that expressions of interest are submitted as soon as possible.

Places in the program are dependent on meeting the selection criteria. Please note submitting an expression of interest does not automatically qualify an applicant for the next step in the selection process for this program.

Places in the program are available to those registered with Mates4Mates. If you are not registered with Mates4Mates and would like to take part, simply complete the Mates4Mates new client form online and our team will be in touch soon.

If you are interested in upcoming programs, please don't hesitate to contact programs@mates4mates.org.

To ensure that participants for the program are selected fairly, all EOI submissions will be assessed individually to identify which participants have meet the requirements of the EOI and are most suitable to attend the program.

Please note, we are unable to keep EOIs on file as a waitlist for future programs. All programs require individual EOIs to be submitted.

If you selected no because you are not registered with Mates4Mates and would like to take part, simply complete the Mates4Mates new client form online and our team will be in touch soon.
